For decades, Superman’s ‘S’ symbol has changed from artist-to-artist and from portrayal-to-portrayal.  Here is a look at many of the variations on the icon that is recognizable worldwide.

Click on a decade to access that page of symbols.  Any symbol labeled with a  is considered “conjecture”.  This means that the symbol varied slightly from drawing to drawing.  Any symbol labeled with a  is either a published “Elseworlds” story or an “Imaginary Tale.”
